It amplifies Brainpower in a way analogous to that in which the Nineteenth Century Industrial Revolution\u201ds Technology of Steam Engines, Metallurgy and Giant Power Tools multiplied muscle power. Information Technology builds the most all-purpose tools ever, Tools for thought. The future belongs to knowledge based Industries. Strength of a Country depends upon the best use of Information Technology in all walks of life.<\/p>\n<h4>About the Department<\/h4>\n<p>The Department of Information Science &amp; Engineering was established in the year 2000 with an initial intake of 60 students to cater to the growing needs of the IT industry. With the rapid expansion of the sector, the intake was increased to 90 in 2009 and further to 120 in 2020. The department has been NBA accredited twice, for 2009-2012 and again for 2022-2025, reflecting its commitment to quality education.<\/p>\n<p>Graduates from the department have built successful careers in leading MNCs, pursued higher education in India and abroad, and ventured into entrepreneurship, NGOs, and government services.<\/p>\n<p>With a highly qualified faculty and state-of-the-art laboratories, the department offers an industry-oriented curriculum that equips students with the skills to compete globally.<\/p>\n<p>The department actively promotes research, with many faculty members recognized as research guides. The faculty members have published their research work in reputed journals and conferences and mentor research scholars pursuing Ph.D. programs.<\/p>\n<p>The department has received a grant of \u20b950 Lakhs from VGST (Govt. of Karnataka) to establish Machine Learning &amp; Ethical Hacking Laboratories. The department also receives funding from KSCST (Govt. of Karnataka) for final-year student projects.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty members stay updated with industry trends through FDPs and NPTEL courses. The department regularly organizes Workshops, Seminars, Webinars and Conferences for the benefit of faculty and students.<\/p>\n<p>With a focus on academic excellence, research, and industry collaboration, the Department of Information Science &amp; 3: To inculcate teamwork capabilities and managerial skills to become entrepreneur or employee of an organization.<\/li>\n<li>PEO \u2013 4: To instill lifelong learning capabilities and to pursue higher education and research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"container m-tb-20\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-12\">\n<h4>Program Outcomes (POs)<\/h4>\n<p>Engineering Graduates will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>PO 1: Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.<\/li>\n<li>PO 2: Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.<\/li>\n<li>PO 3: Design\/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.<\/li>\n<li>PO 4: Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.<\/li>\n<li>PO 5: Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.<\/li>\n<li>PO 6: The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.<\/li>\n<li>PO 7: Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.<\/li>\n<li>PO 8: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.<\/li>\n<li>PO 9: Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.<\/li>\n<li>PO 10: Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.<\/li>\n<li>PO 11: Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one&#8217;s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.<\/li>\n<li>PO 12: Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)<\/h4>\n<p><strong>PSO \u2013 1:<\/strong> Able to apply appropriate techniques for storage of huge amount of data and ensuring its integrity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PSO \u2013 2:<\/strong> Choose appropriate method for data acquisition from real world and propose suitable solutions to solve problems.<\/p>\n<h4>\u201c<strong>Info Edge<\/strong>\u201d<\/h4>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Info Edge<\/strong>\u201d is a half yearly Newsletter published by the ISE department which provides a glimpse of various activities conducted in the department and highlights the department\u2019s achievements and accomplishments. This facility is used for research activities and train the students in Machine Learning and Deep Learning.<\/p>\n<h4>Project Laboratory<\/h4>\n<p>The Department has project laboratory with adequate facilities to help students involve in project. It is an exclusive lab facility of department which ignites the brains of students to do creative project works. Our students have done many remarkable projects and participated in project competition. Students are allotted the time slot for their projects in the regular class time table.
